After six great years, Nails by Katy will be closing it's doors at the end of the year.  As most of my regular clients have known, I have been suffering from several medical conditions which have made working in the salon difficult. This year has hit the salon pretty hard, just as I know it has been bad for other businesses. With the decline in my health and covid-19 restrictions, staying open is just not an option.  I truly appreciate all the support everyone has given. It is time for me to pursue other options. The NailsbyKaty.com website will change to a question and advice website based on health and wellness with a store attached where items talked about and suggested can be purchased.  I will also see about making videos on how to take care of your own nail, skin, and health. Well, after finally getting all the orders in and set up the salon per the COVID-19 regulations, I am fully open staring this week. Thank you everyone for the donations and support throughout this tough time.  Online booking will be available, but all clients must follow the guidelines in order to ensure that you and I stay safe and healthy. I will be posting the details soon. Truth About Nails Everyone Should Know

Truth About SNS Nails! What is it Really?      So, I have had a few people ask about the SNS (Signature Nail System) dipped nail products as an alternative to gel polish or acrylic. I just wanted disband the myth that it is a natural and less damaging service.     As you know, I have been a nail artist for a long time. I have seen many products and services come and go. Back in the day, we used to use glue and acrylic powder to fix cracks or splits in nails. That is all SNS is. The powders ARE ACRYLIC and can be used as a universal acrylic powder with any acrylic liquid to sculpt a nail extension. The so called GEL that is painted on the nail before dipped into the powder is just the GLUE RESIN that we used to make silk or fiberglass nail overlays. Now, the new dipping systems that have come out in the last few years claim that they are a safer and more healthy nail product by adding calcium and vitamin E into the glue base. That in no way actually strengthens your nails
